Potential routes/thoughts:

Early season – Gray Butte – Second Saturday in April – 60ish miles

June/July – Ochocos – mileage TBD

September – Big Friggin Bachelor Loop – mileage TBD, probably around 80 or so

Interested? Let us know if you would be interested in helping lay out some routes.

I would be interested to learn more about this series. I feel this is something that Oregon definitely NEEDS and it’s great to see something happening.
Will these races (or routes) be self-supported?

Let me know if I can help.

The idea is self-supported events. Sort of like competitive group rides without the headaches of pulling together an official race.

Looks like you just missed the Antelope Peak Challenge when you were in AZ. I will zap you contact info…

I’d be interested in helping out. I’ve done a number of grass-roots type races; Trans-Iowa, Dirty Kanza, etc. I’m new to Oregon, so I don’t really know anything about the rides/trails out here, but I want to learn and this is a type of racing I’m very interested in.

Let me know if there is anything I can do!

Keep checking the site and I will try and keep it updated with progress and help needed. At this point we have too much snow to do much on the Gray Butte course mapping. It should be a good early season warm-up. The Bachelor route won’t take a whole lot to pull together pretty fast. I will probably get a pre-ride group together during the summer depending on when the blow down gets cleared.

I can help out with GPS and mapping – it’s what I do for a living. Just need some of this snow to melt…

Hear you on the snow. It has slowed things down a bit. As soon as things warm up a bit I will zap out an email to those who have responded to this and maybe we can divide and conquer on the Gray Butte route to get the sections mapped.

    Should be good…Steve

Still lots of snow around Gray Butte. My girlfriend ran around it yesterday. Lots of ice and some post hole snow. I can help with mapping once it dries out a bit.

The second weekend in April is perfect you can count me in for Gray Butte.

For the Ochocos I’d say after the creampuff at least a couple of weeks. I’m racing the Test of Endurance and the CP so later is better for me. I’d love to race out there for sure.

With the Bachelor race I’m not sure. I’m heading down the Tahoe Sierra 100. I’d love to race a couple of weeks before then as a tune up. I guess I’ll probably riding the “tune up” by myself though.

Thanks and let me know how I can help.

Marc and I went riding out there yesterday and I think we will need to move the April date for Gray Butte back a bit. Couple of reasons – first I do not think the route will dry out by the second week in April, and second I don’t think we will have everything linked together. Later in April might work if somebody else ran things the day of. Make sure you sign up over in the Google Groups to keep up with notices. We may need to pull together a planning meeting.

I would be very interested in riding and helping however I can. Please keep me posted when you are going to map out/ride these courses. I grew up in Prineville, but have been in So. Cal (Big Bear Lake, CA) for the last 16 years. Just moved back, but am an avid endurance athlete and have been trying to get established in Central Oregon. Let me know.
